Life's Purpose

Life is an accident,
Some would say.
To others, life is a design,
A deliberate design of the divine.

The truth is—
Who has seen?
Or knows?—
It is not accident
Like the babies born to bitches.

Had it been so
All the immortals
Down the annals of man
Could never be explained.

Life, make no mistake,
Is deliberate and designed
And destined to have
A definite purpose.
The responsibility though
Rests with us
To realise the purpose.

Be thou a lamp unto thyself,
Thus said Buddha millennia ago.
Be the one people look up to
To steer through the dark,
To find a path,
A direction.

Let thy ideal burn
Bright within you
Blazing a path
All to emulate.

Let thy purpose of life
A life of purpose be
And thy life a gift of perpetuity,
A beacon of legacy to posterity.
